ISO-KF components from Trinos Vakuum-Systeme GmbH are manufactured in accordance with DIN 28 403 and ISO 2861, in standard sizes of NW 10 to NW 50 and are compatible with the products of other manufacturers.

All components are helium leak tested and offer leak rates better than 10-9 mbar × l/s.

An ISO-KF (small flange) joint consists of two symmetrical flanges and an O-Ring, which is positioned and supported by an inner and an outer centering ring. The force needed for sealing is produced by a clamping ring which is placed over the conical tightening surfaces, and which is then tightened with a wing nut. This type of flange can be assembled and disassembled quickly and effectively without any tools.

ISO-KF joints are suited for pressures ranging from 10-7 mbar to 2.5 bar and 5 bar respectively with centering rings with outer support features. With metal gaskets the pressure range can be extended to 10-9 mbar and to 60 bar on the high end. The maximum operating temperature of the joint is determined by the type of sealing material used.

The majority of ISO-KF components are made from corrosion resistant stainless steel. Minimization of the active surface area is achieved by blasting with glass beads as well as electro- or manual polishing processes, all of which ensure a low degassing rate (desorption) of the material.
